Transient stability enhancement control through VSC-HVDC system and fast frequency response resources

In addition to the traditional long-distance and bulk power transmission application, HVDC system can bring additional benefits by providing ancillary service. The high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) regulate its flow in a very short time be used provide emergency support rescue disturbed from bad conditions. However, because generators cannot meet great demand of time, fast response may cause severe power-unbalance events supporting system. this paper, combination frequency control (CFRC) is proposed for (FFR) coordinating under contingency. With control, most use capacity could made. Meanwhile, coordination between prevent power-source-provided dropping an unacceptable level. simulation study conducted on highly reduced model three North American interconnections. verification shows effectiveness feasibility indicates that stability both side systems significantly improved with control. future, communication delay energy storage will considered strategy further improve accuracy response.
